Quechee Lakes has 2 championship golf courses designed by well known golf course architect, Geoffrey Cornish. Ranked in the top 1% by USA Today and had been home to the New England Open for over 18 years. The Jeff Julian Tournament is held every year in honor of the only golf professional to be on the PGA tour from Vermont.
The Highland course lives up to its name as it traverses the hillsides. The Lakeland course winds around the Ottauquechee River and Lake Pinneo. The golf pro and his staff operate a pro shop and provide golf lessons and periodic golf schools and tournaments. Only owners, renters, and their guest have access to the golf courses.
The Quechee Club is pleased to announce our inclusion in Golf Digest's Best in State ranking for 2007-2008.
The ranking is part of a biennial America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses package and will appear in the May 2007 issue of Golf Digest, which arrives on newsstands April 10th.
Golf Digest has conducted America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses rankings since 1966, making it the oldest and most respected ranking in the game. The magazine panel of more than 800 low-handicap male and female golfers nationwide played and rated the courses on criteria including Shot Values, Resistance to Scoring, Design Variety, Memorability, Aesthetics, Conditioning and Ambience. After panelists filed their evaluations, Golf Digest averaged the scores of the seven categories (scores in the Shot Values category counted double) and totaled the averages to determine the overall rankings.
Congratulations to The Quechee Club Golf Professionals, Greens Committee, Golf Committee and the entire Golf Maintenance Staff for designating The Quechee Club Highland Course as the # 4 ranked facility in Vermont. Well done!
