Located off a scenic, country road in Vermont's Mettowee Valley is the small village of Pawlet. Fourteen miles north of Manchester Center on Route 30, Pawlet boasts a general store, a bistro, an organic pizza parlor, and several small shops of Vermont artists and artisans. In the tiny village, Mach's General Store is a Pawlet landmark, with a small lunch counter and a viewing box in the center of the store that looks down on the Flower Brook waterfalls, which runs under the building.

Wells River is a small Vermont community off Interstate 91 on the eastern side of the state. It is about 20 minutes south of St. Johnsbury.
