Description

High on a sylvan hill with the Green Mountains to the west and the Connecticut River Valley on the east sits Sylvan Hill Antiques in the historic village of Grafton, Vermont. From the village, one drives down a country lane bordered by a clear running stream and up a hemlock-shrouded hill to open meadows, landscaped herbaceous gardens and an English Antiques Shop.

Established in 1991, Sylvan Hill Antiques specializes in English vernacular furniture and accessories. Vernacular furniture, often referred to as "country furniture" is simply items of ordinary life used, cared for and handed down in families for centuries. Furniture made not for the great houses of the wealthy but for ordinary people, rural and urban.

Our inventory contains examples of most household furniture of the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries in oak, elm, yew and fruit woods. As expected of furniture used daily, some repairs and restorations have been made over the years.
